It’s an exciting time to invest in private tech markets. Entire markets are being disrupted before our eyes. And over the last 15 years we’ve gone from around 90 million serious internet users to 3 billion today.

Before we get to our recommendations, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Don’t invest more than you can comfortably lose. Startup investing can be extremely lucrative, but is risky.
  • You need to be an accredited investor to act on these recommendations.
  • Start small. Start slow. No matter how good an opportunity seems, there will be others.
  • Diversify by spreading your risk across 10-40 investments over the course of a year or longer.
  • Be willing to hold on to your shares for years.
