On Tuesday, at 10 a.m. ET, the Subcommittee on Oversight and Subcommittee on Research and Technology is holding a hearing on blockchain technology.
Because cryptocurrencies always come up in these discussions, and because regulations are critically important to the future of cryptocurrencies, we’re going to cover this event LIVE just for you on Twitter. Just make sure you follow @Early1nvesting.
The future of cryptocurrencies lies with regulation.
That’s not a theory. That’s an absolute fact. In order to thrive, cryptocurrencies need a friendly regulatory infrastructure, much like the internet did in its nascent days.
In the United States, the government is just beginning to think about regulating cryptocurrencies. And it really needs to think about it.
Right now, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the IRS and the Department of Homeland Security all treat cryptocurrencies differently. And that’s just the tip of the regulatory mess.
This hearing will provide a window into what the government is thinking about cryptocurrencies. And this insight is critical. It will help shape the markets AND give us an idea as to how active crypto investors and enthusiasts need to be about contacting their members of Congress to make sure the government ends up with regulations that help them.
During our live coverage, we’ll tweet about what Congressional members are saying, what they actually mean, what the witnesses are saying and how all this informs Congress as it considers regulations.
If you have any questions for us, ask away. We’ll do our best to answer them.
