Vitalik Buterin, founder of Ethereum, is worried about the future of crypto. In an interview with Time magazine, he said he was concerned about the dangers to overeager investors, high transaction fees and the exorbitant displays of wealth that have come to be synonymous with crypto.
“If we don’t exercise our voice, the only things that get built are the things that are immediately profitable,” he said. “And those are often far from what’s actually the best for the world.”
Buterin is worried that his vision for the transformative power of Ethereum — which he wants to make a positive impact in the world — is being outstripped by greed.
In this episode of Crypto Insider, Vin Narayanan and Allison Brickell discuss Buterin’s concerns and some of the positive impacts crypto has made in the world recently.
